Canberra by James Northfield

This 1950s advertisement for Australia's capital Canberra features an aerial view looking across the Provisional Parliament House (now Old Parliament House) and what is now known as the John Gorton building towards Queanbeyan. Commisioned by the Australian National Travel Association to promote travel to Australia's young capital. At this stage in Canberra's young history the Provisional Parliament House was one of only a few large buildings and was the hub of the town’s activities.
